BRIEF HISTORY
George - When our dad arrived in Canada from Germany in 1953, he started building residential homes, then went onto commercial highrise buildings. Our dad's favorite building he worked on was the Harbour Castle in Toronto.
During the winter months and on weekends, our dad opened a construction company doing basement renovation, kitchens, small additions which lead into building houses, and installing windows and doors for one of our past suppliers - Repla Windows and Doors (Repla) from Oakville.
As the client base in the east end grew, future clients did not want to drive to Oakville to see the product. Repla suggested that George open a showroom in Scarborough with their product line.
The first Gator Custom Windows Ltd., showroom was opened on Kingston Rd. Our mom Irma looked after the showroom.
Starting in the late 70's and early 80's, one by one, George and Irma's children, became involved in the business. Roy, Beatrice and Harold.
Time has passed quickly, and now 40+ years later our showroom, office and warehouse (which we added a second story to along with a major renovated in the early 1990's) is at 299 Danforth Road (between Warden and Birchmount Rd).
Unfortunately our parents - George past away August 2015 after fighting a courgaeous battle with Alzheimers. Irma passed away December 2020 after a fighting a courgaeous battle with Cancer. They taught us to be conscientious, caring and hard working, to enjoy life through family, work and to travel. Our parents dreams and business will continue to flourish through us their children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
